The Access Bank UK Ltd has held another successful Property Roadshow on Tuesday 17th October at Johnwood Hotel by Bolten in Abuja, Nigeria. The event welcomed around 65 esteemed guests.
The programme started with a welcome speech by Jamie Simmonds, the CEO/MD of The Access Bank UK Ltd. He thanked the attendees present and introduced the Bank’s vision & mission as well as the purpose of the gathering. He also gave a brief about the successes that The Access Bank UK Ltd has achieved over the years.
Mr Johnson Ememandu, Head of Commercial Banking at The Access Bank UK Limited took to the podium to explain how the Bank can support with achieving property objectives. He mentioned how the Bank has been assisting customers with the acquisition of properties in the UK, he gave track records and explained our criteria and supporting documents required for both the Buy-to-Let (BTL) and the Owner Occupier Mortgage. Johnson concluded by mentioning the reasons why The Access Bank UK Ltd is preferred amongst other Nigerian Banks in the UK and that the Bank is always ready and responsive to their customers’ needs.
Mr Efosa Obaseki of BA Williams Legal was next to address the audience, he spoke about the property conveyancing process. He mentioned the various searches that have to be carried out on properties and the reasons for the searches. He also talked about taxes such as stamp duty, inheritance tax, capital gain tax etc and went through the process of explaining the involvement of seller’s solicitors and the developers in a case of a new build and documents required.
Mr Efosa touched on Money Laundering & due diligence checks and Overseas Property Investors and UK Immigration. He focused on how BA Williams Legal Limited carry out their due diligence, and necessary KYC checks on their clients.
Mr Yemi Edun of Daniel Ford International took to the podium and spoke about how his company can support with property choices. After giving an overview of how London is sectioned into zones and the various tourist attraction centres. He explained how various events can positively impact property prices in the UK and that his company can assist in choosing areas where their clients can experience capital appreciation and good rental income yield on their properties. He concluded by saying that his company can provide property acquisition, residential lettings and full property management and subsequently introduced his team members.
After the presentations, the audience engaged in a Q&A where they asked questions ranging from how to refinance existing properties to the preference between leasehold and freehold properties. These questions were adequately answered by Jamie Simmonds, Johnson Ememandu, Yemi Edun and Efosa Obaseki, to the satisfaction of the audience and this was moderated by Tolu Ajibade, A Senior Relationship Manager at The Access Bank UK Ltd.
To conclude the informative and insightful session, the guests enjoy dinner and drinks and were thanked for their attendance.
