On July 2nd, 2024, The Access Bank UK Ltd hosted its much-anticipated Property Roadshow in Lagos, Nigeria. The event, held at the prestigious Wheatbaker Hotel, attracted a diverse audience of investors, real estate enthusiasts, and financial professionals eager to explore international property investment opportunities.

The formal program commenced with a welcome speech by Johnson Ememandu, Head of Commercial Banking of The Access Bank UK Ltd. He introduced the Bank’s vision, mission, and the purpose of the gathering, focusing on the theme “Financing Your Investment.”

Johnson Ememandu elaborated on how The Access Bank UK Ltd supports clients in achieving their property investment goals. Following Johnson Ememandu’s presentation, Juliet Benson of J. Benson Solicitors took the stage to discuss the property conveyancing process. She explained the various searches required for properties and their importance, as well as taxes such as stamp duty, inheritance tax, and capital gains tax. Ms Benson also covered the involvement of seller’s solicitors and developers in new builds, the necessary documents, and the procedures for due diligence and money laundering checks for overseas property investors.

Yemi Edun of Daniel Ford International presented on how his company supports clients with property choices. He provided an overview of London’s zoning, tourist attractions, and the impact of events on property prices. Mr Edun emphasized his company’s expertise in identifying areas with potential for capital appreciation and good rental income yields. He concluded by introducing his team members and detailing their services in property acquisition, residential lettings, and full property management.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A session, allowing the audience to ask questions on topics ranging from refinancing existing properties to the merits of leasehold versus freehold ownership. The panelists’ comprehensive responses were well-received, enhancing the audience’s understanding of the topics discussed.
